Where else will you find honey wine? This Ethiopian restaurant might be small and plain, but the food is critically acclaimed, and Mich`l Ayalew`s hospitality is bountiful. Popular meat dishes include tips of beef, sauteed with cardamom, red wine, and spicy berbere sauce (tibs wat) and boneless leg of lamb (yebeg tibs). The dishes are served over injera, a spongy crepe-like bread made of teff (a cereal grain native to northern Africa). Eating here is a fun lesson in alternative methods of dining: two eat from one platter, scooping with bread instead of spearing with forks.
Stop in Meskerem for a restaurant that focuses on an Ethiopian and African fare. Expect the average entrée to cost $12 to $20, and plan to fit the scene by dressing casual.
Eating & Drinking: Open for lunch and dinner. Both beer and wine are served.
Details to Note: Reservations are accepted. Delivery is available. Entrances and walkways are wheelchair friendly.
Ways to Pay: Cash, MasterCard, Visa and Discover
